Inventory Processes.

There are may ways to do inventory.  You can use counting sheets, or the revert back to adding prices together and compute the gross sales than the cost.  The problem with this approach is that the retailer has no clue what products are in inventory, and how old are the products or the store shrinkage.

The correct way to use a counting systems is to group product by products.  A counting system is design to capture the high ticket item to make sure your inventory is accurate.

• Counting systems are design on the 80 - 20 rule (80% of value is in 20% of inventory)
• Counting systems group inventory into at less 4 classes A - B - C  - D inventory
• Class A is the most valuable item and are counted every other week
• Class B and C are counted every 3 and 4 weeks
• Class D is counted once a year or estimated
• 80 percent of the store inventory value is in  Class A - B (in some cases C).
